Project Summary

The mini-supermarket project aims at improving the operation and management, and ensures the sustainability of income generation of Bright Kids Uganda. This project focuses on four major areas: type of commodities, operation expenses, management, and marketing. Expanding and improving its purchasing system is to increase the variety of commodities. Damages is one of major expenses, and thus setting a special promotional price for our nearly expired items and adjusting stocks and selling strategies based on selling records and on time are essential. The following four actions are used to improve the management: rebuild

the management structure, motivate and improve the skills of the operator, improve the bookkeeping method, and make financial plan for the mini-supermarket every year. Setting competitive prices, making an appropriate promotion plan, and improving decoration, advertising and branding are used to make BKU’s mini-supermarket more competitive. It is also suggested to transform the mini-supermarket into the combination of grocery store, souvenir shop, and food stand.

With all these efforts, we intend to make enough profit to generate funds for Bright Kids Uganda enterprises and to finance the continued growth of the mini-supermarket.
